Two cousins caught with £47,000 of heroin inside a cushion on the back seat of their car have been jailed.

Mohammed Dilu Miah, 31, who was driving the car on the M5, was sentenced to three years.

His cousin Ripon Miah, also 31, a takeaway worker, of Broad Street, Newent, received four years.

Police said the drugs, weighing almost a kilo, could have been worth up to £100,000, depending on how they were sold.

Mohammed, of Morpeth Street, Tredworth, had admitted possessing the heroin with intent to supply.

His cousin denied it but he was convicted by a jury.

Jailing the two men, Judge Jamie Tabor QC said Ripon had to have a longer sentence for not pleading guilty.
