Detectives in Croydon are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was stabbed in a botched mugging early on Sunday morning.

The 39 year old victim was attacked on Morland Avenue after leaving East Croydon station at around 00.30

A man approached the woman to ask what the time was. He then asked for money, stabbing her in both arms after she tried to run away.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The suspect is described a black man in his late teens, approx 6ft tall with short curly black hair. He was wearing a cargo jacket and dark coloured trousers.
