A 29-YEAR-OLD man from Swansea has appeared in court charged with a serious sexual offence.

Ali Yazzin, of Landore, appeared at Swansea Magistrates’ Court to confirm his name, address and date of birth through an Arabic interpreter.

The alleged offence is said to have involved a 16-year-old girl and taken place on Swansea’s Neath Road in the early hours of June 3.

No pleas were entered, but defence solicitor Andrew Evans indicated his client was not likely to plead guilty.

Prosecutor Julie Sullivan told the court that Yazzin was a failed asylum seeker from Palestine who has no connections to the Swansea area, other than being placed in the city by immigration services.
