An man has been jailed for hiding two assault rifles in a cupboard at his home.

The weapons, accurate up to almost 500 metres away, were concealed in a wardrobe at the Edmonton home of Mohammed Ismail.

He was sentenced to six years’ jail on Friday after pleading guilty to possession of prohibited weapons at a hearing on May 10.

The weapons were recovered by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service Central Task Force as part of a pre-planned operation.
