A man was convicted of three counts of benefit fraud and ordered to repay the £10,771 by Luton Magistrates Court.

Sajid Mahmood, 39, of 1 Chatsworth Road in Luton, was claiming income support and council tax benefit but failed to tell the authorities he owned a second property and rented it to his father-on-law.

He pleaded guilty to three charges of furnishing false and misleading documents to obtain benefit.

The Court sentenced Mahmood to a 12 month Community Order, 120 hours unpaid community work and £220 towards prosecution costs as well has having to repay the money.
