A VIOLENT criminal jailed for smashing up cash machines in Sheffield – causing £30,000 of damage – has been locked up again for nine years after he hurled boiling water over another prisoner.

Adalah Osman, aged 29, launched an unprovoked attack on fellow inmate Steven Morley in Doncaster Prison, which could leave his victim scarred for life, Sheffield Crown Court heard.

Laura Marshall, prosecuting, said Osman was sentenced to three years last January for damaging 17 city centre cashpoints at eight banks.

Osman handed himself in at West Bar police station while holding an eight-inch scaffolding tube, saying he had smashed up the ATMs.
