Bubacarr Suwaneh, aged 35, faced magistrates in custody charged with assaulting the student as she walked home late at night.

The Crown Prosecution Service said the woman was forced into Central Park by a stranger.

Gareth Warden, prosecuting, said she was then raped three times.

He said the woman was walking home from the city centre when she was approached by a man in North Hill at 3.30am on July 16.

Mr Warden added it was Suwaneh who allegedly talked to her before pushing her into the park near some trees.
