A gang member has been jailed for 12 years after admitting to firearms and knife offences.

Zackaria Sugulle, 24 of St Margarets Terrace, SE18, was sentenced to 12 years in prison at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday 31 August having pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition and possession of two kitchen knives.

On Thursday 21 June, officers were deployed on an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) operation – codenamed Cubo – in Eltham, when a Vauxhall Zafira came to their attention for not having a ‘current keeper’.

The vehicle was stopped and Sugulle, who was a passenger in the car, was seen to throw a bag into the driver’s footwell.

The bag was found to contain a loaded Smith and Wesson revolver, two kitchen knives and a pair of black gloves. Sugulle was arrested, taken to a south London police station and subsequently charged.
