DETECTIVES are hunting four men who tried to rob an amputee by beating him with his own walking stick.

The attack happened last Monday night (3 September) in Smethwick’s Victoria Park on Pool Road at around 8:30pm as the 54-year-old victim enjoyed a stroll.

Four men approached the victim and punched him in the face, knocking off his glasses and, as one of them held his hands behind his back, the other three began to search through his pockets. When the victim began to struggle, one of the men grabbed his walking stick and began to attack him with it as another broke his neck chain….

….Two of the men were white and are thought to have been eastern European, aged around 20 or 21 and wearing dark clothing.

The third attacker was a black man, around 6ft tall of slim build, wearing a black hooded top and carrying a black ‘man bag’.

The fourth offender was dark skinned, possibly Asian, of slim build and around 5ft 5ins tall. He wore a grey hooded top, grey beanie hat and had a black ‘man bag’.
