BRITAIN is paying out more than £30million in benefits for children who live overseas, new figures reveal.

More than 24,000 immigrant parents get child benefit to send back to around 40,000 children living in other countries.

EU laws oblige the UK to make the payments but the figures have provoked outrage.

Matthew Sinclair from the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “This is yet another example of the European Union inflicting unfair rules on the UK which are landing taxpayers with a massive bill.”
